Eligibility Criteria:
1. Minimum and Maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years respectively
2. Minimum education:
a. 10+2 class passed or its equivalent preferably with the Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) subjects with aggregate of 45% marks
b. Those who have cleared 10+2 vocational ANM COURSES (revised after of 2001)from the school recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
c. ANM training i.e., 10+1 ½ years training should have passed +2 or its equivalent examination
3. Admission of students shall be once in a year between July and August
4. Students should be medically fit
5. In addition to the above, admission procedure can be laid down by concerned State Nursing Council
(Age relaxation as per Govt. orders for SC/ST/BC from time to time)
Duration of the Course:-
The General Nursing and Midwifery course shall be THREE YEARS AND SIX MONTHS. There shall be a preliminary period of 12 weeks. The duration of the program has been increased from 3 years to 3 ½ years. The additional six months has been earmarked for internship so that the candidates should be able to develop desired competencies.
Medium of instruction: The teaching of theory and practical will be in English only.
Syllabus:
The Syllabus is as per Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi, in accordance with A.P Nursing Council prescribed for GNM trainees in all three years and 6 months internship period.
I year Subjects:
a) Biological Science
b) Behavior Science
c) Fundamentals of Nursing
d) Community Health Nursing and
e) English.
II year Subjects:
a) Medical Surgical Nursing l (including Pharmacology)
b) Medical Surgical Nursing ll (Specialties)
c) Mental Health & Psychiatric Nursing
d) Computer Education.
III year Subjects:
a) Midwifery and Gynecology
b) Community Health Nursing ll
c) Pediatric Nursing.
Internship Subjects:
a) Educational Methods & Media for teaching in practice of Nursing.
b) Introduction to Research
c) Professional Trends & Adjustment
d) Administration and ward Management
e) Health Economics.
SCHEME OF EXAMINATION:
At the end of the every academic year the Government of Andhra Pradesh (Board of Examination) will conduct the examinations. 100 marks per each subjects respectively. Out of which the School should send 25 internal assessment marks to the Council/Board .The duration of the examination is 3 hours.
Practical examination is to be conducted in the respective clinical area.
Grading of Examination:
a) 80% and above Distinction:
b) 70% to 79% First Division
c) 60% to 69% Second Division:
d) 50% to 59% Pass.
